DODGE CITY–Wichita scored the game’s final three goals Sunday, spearheaded by a brace from Colin Lawter, giving them a 6-4 comeback win over Kansas at United Wireless Arena.

Lawter opened the scoring late in the first quarter and then got the critical game-tying goal with 13:10 to play. Luis Dantas Rodrigues scored the game-winner with 6:52 left on a touch pass from Jared Robbins, one of his two assists in the game.

The teams traded goals until early in the fourth quarter, when the Bandits briefly snagged the lead on back-to-back goals from Irwin Macias, the Dodge City High School senior. But Lawter tied it less than a minute later and took the lead for good midway through the final frame.

Kansas outshot Wichita 36-33 in the match, but 26 of those shots came in the first half for the Bandits. They were only able to register four in the fourth quarter.

The Bandits fall to 1-3 and return to action Saturday, Jan. 21 when they travel to Amarillo. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
