Edwards shines off bench, Conq men down McCook
MCCOOK–Jason Edwards scored 21 points off the bench for Dodge City and the Conq defense forced 23 McCook turnovers, paving the way for their fourth straight win, 71-58, over the Indians at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center Tuesday.
McCook began the game on a 13-2 run, but after a Dodge City timeout, the Conqs quickly responded with a 14-3 run of their own. From there, the first half seesawed, but the Indians knocked down eight threes before the break and took a 36-35 lead to the locker room.
The second half was all Dodge. Edwards continued to make a difference without being in the starting lineup, canning 8-of-14 from the field to spark the Conqs.
Dodge City entered the game fourth in the nation in free throw attempts per game, averaging 32 trips to the stripe through their first four games. Though they got there just 10 times Tuesday, they made seven, and that was enough for a road victory.
Two other Conqs got into double figures, including Jacobi Sebock and Avnoor Buhllar, who each had 13 points.
The Conquistadors improve to 4-1 with the win.
Dodge City returns to action Saturday when they travel to Cowley. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
