MIDLAND–Dodge City’s women put their defensive intensity on display Saturday, holding Midland to under 26% shooting and dominated the Lady Chaps 69-51 in the Midland College Tipoff Classic at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center.

Dodge City got 31 points off the bench, including Paris Santacaterina, who led the Conqs with 12 points. Aujanae Latimer also had 10 off the bench for Dodge.

The turnover battle was owned by Dodge City, winning that category 21-9.

Rebounding continues to be a point of concern though for the Conqs, as they were out-boarded 41-31 in Saturday’s contest. Despite winning 19 games last year, the Conqs were consistently out-rebounded by their opponents.

To try and offset rebounding woes, the Conqs drained nine threes in the victory.

With the win, the Conquistadors improve to 4-1.

Dodge City returns to action Tuesday when they host Bethany College JV. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
