WICHITA–Irwin Macias found space inside the box and blasted home the game-winning goal with 1:06 left in regulation Saturday, unlocking a tie and giving Dodge City a 2-1 victory over Washburn Rural to claim third place in the 6A Playoffs at Tommy Peckham Field.

Dodge City jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes in on a Mario Olivares self-created goal early in the first half. That lead held for most of the match until Benett Hallauer evened the score with 9:18 to go.

The Red Demons dominated possession from that point forward and with just more than a minute left, Francisco Hernandez threaded a pass to Macias, who rifled in the winner.

Macias scored twice in the Final Four and ends his high school career with a memorable moment.

The Red Demons finish the season 20-1.
