Dodge City student stabbed in alleged altercation

Dodge City, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Dodge City police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Thursday morning. According to a media release, the incident occurred in the Dodge City High School parking lot, around 7:45 Thursday morning.

Officers immediately responded and began investigating the stabbing of a high school student reported to the School Resource Officer. According to officials, around 7:45 AM, the victim parked his car in the school parking lot and was approached by the suspect. An altercation ensued leaving the student with a stab wound to the hand. The suspect left school grounds in his vehicle. Officers were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and track it to an address in the 2200 block of Hart Ave. The suspect who is a 27 year old Dodge City resident at first refused to come to the door.

He later came to the door after his father arrived and was subsequently arrested for aggravated battery without further incident.

The investigation is on going to determine the suspect’s motive. A criminal case will be filed with the Ford County Attorney’s Office for official charging. The victim was treated by school personnel and later treated at the hospital.
