Scott City back on the road tonight, this time in Oklahoma
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City will play in Oklahoma for the first time tonight, as they make the six-hour trip to Oklahoma City to face the Millwood Falcons in a match up of tradition-rich schools.
Millwood is 1-1 on the year, ranked seventh in Class 2A in Oklahoma, after they defeated rival Douglass 45-0 last Saturday afternoon in their annual Soul Bowl game in Oklahoma City. They led 8-0 after the first quarter, and exploded for 30 second quarter points, on their way to the win. This year, the Falcons have been balanced, averaging 333 yards per game on offense, with 150 coming on the ground. They are led offensively by freshman quarterback CJ Turnbull, senior running back Rickey Hunt, Jr, and sophomore wide receiver Jaden Nickens. They’ve allowed 18 points on average over the first two games.
Scott City picked up a big win at Wray, Colorado last Friday night in a 28-0 win over the Eagles. The Beavers had another big first quarter, taking a 13-0 lead, and led 21-0 at the break. Scott City held the Eagles to just over 100 yards of offense, as they pitched their second straight shutout. They have averaged 35 points over the first two games, and 229 yards of offense in only five quarters of play, led by Jace Thomas, Brady Welker, Lawson Bailey and Dylan Metzger in the backfield.
