Lady Beaver volleyball splits in Colby triangular on Thursday
Colby, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City volleyball team returned to the court on Thursday, this time in Colby in a triangular with Colby and Hoxie.
It would be the second time they have faced both teams this year, falling to Colby at the Hays Invitational, and to Hoxie at home last Thursday.
Scott City would split with both teams. In their first match, it would be a match up with the Lady Eagles. Colby would dominate the first set, taking it 25-15. The Lady Beavers would rally to take the second set 25-16, forcing a third set. Scott City would rally late to take a 25-23 win in the third set.
Against Hoxie, the Lady Beavers picked up from where they left off, putting the hammer down early on on the Lady Indians, picking up a 25-14 win. In the second set, Hoxie was up big, before Scott City rallied, but the Lady Indians would win 25-21 heading into set three. The Lady Beavers had an early lead in the third set, as Hoxie would rally and the teams went back and forth. Hoxie scored the final two points to win 25-23.
Hoxie defeated Colby in the final match of the day 22-25, 25-18, 25-23.
At 5-10 on the year, Scott City will play at Garden City on Tuesday, and in Holcomb against the Longhorns and Cimarron in GWAC play on Thursday.
