Scott City baseball sweeps Goodland, tennis wins Larned Invitational
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Tuesday saw a busy day, as the Scott City baseball team faced Goodland in league play, while Tennis made the trip to Larned for the Larned Invitational.
In Goodland, it was a big day for the Beavers, as they swept the Cowboys on the diamond. Scott City picked up a pair of big wins in GWAC play, taking victories of 4-3 and 7-3. The Beavers improved to 8-6 overall, 5-3 in league play, as they moved themselves back into the league title race. Scott City will continue to be on the road on Friday with a doubleheader at Ellis.
It was another big day for tennis on Tuesday, as they made their way to Larned for the Larned Invitational. Scott City would dominate the meet, as they won another meet, scoring 30 points. Colby was second with 20 points. Avry Noll at No. 1 Singles, Brody Strine at No. 2 Singles, and the No. 2 Doubles team of Dante Franco/Ben Resendiz all took first place, while the No. 1 Doubles team of Houston Frank/Sage Stoecklein finished in second place. Up next is the Hoisington Invitational on Thursday, which will be held in Great Bend, and GWAC in Scott City on Monday.
