Auto theft, aggravated assault leads to arrest in Garden City

Garden City, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – On April 23, 2022, at 11:45 A.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department responded to the 1500 block of N. 13th Street for reported auto theft.

Officers met with the reporting party, who stated that Jessie Borrego (31), transient, had taken her Ford Fusion without permission. Later that day, the reporting party and another individual observed Borrego walking in the 1700 block of E. Fulton Street and confronted him about the vehicle. Borrego pulled out a pocketknife and began swinging it toward both individuals and yelled obscenities. Borrego began chasing one of the victims with the knife before fleeing on foot. Officers located Borrego and took him into custody.

Borrego was lodged in the Finney County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Battery and
Theft (F).
