Car catches fire outside Verizon Wireless (Garden City)

11/8/2021 (westernkansasnews.com) On November 7, 2021, at around 2:40 P.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department and the Garden City Fire Department were dispatched to 3010 E. Kansas Avenue (Verizon Wireless) for a vehicle fire near the building.

Upon arrival, first responders observed a Kia Optima engulfed in flames in the parking lot. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The investigation revealed that the owner of the vehicle was inside Verizon Wireless when his vehicle caught on fire by unknown means. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were sustained from the
incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the estimated loss of the vehicle is $15,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
