Matt Allen Honored for years of Board Service

WICHITA, Kan. – Matt Allen will be completing his service as a board member for the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) Board of Directors on June 30. Allen has served for nine years on the KHF Board, including serving as chair since 2019.

During his board service, Allen approved 97 grants totaling $125 million and held leadership roles on both the governance and finance committees and was KHF Board vice chair in 2018.

“We have been honored to have Matt Allen serve the Foundation for all these years,” said Jeffry Jack, KHF Board vice chair. “The Foundation has greatly benefitted from his interest in health philanthropy and his steadfast leadership. He has helped KHF progress through organizational changes, such as allowing the Foundation to engage in policy and lobbying and helping lead two national CEO search processes, including hiring Teresa Miller, KHF’s current president and CEO.”

In honor of his service, the Foundation will provide grants totaling $25,000, directed to the following organizations:

  • ($10,000) League of Kansas Municipalities on behalf of Kansas Association of City/County Management (KACM), an organization of local government officials working to support and promote professional management and high ethical standards for effective democracy in local city and county governments in Kansas. This contribution will be used to support KACM’s scholarship efforts.
  • ($10,000) Western Kansas Community Foundation, a community foundation located in Garden City working to improve quality of life of residents in the 15 Southwest Kansas counties.
  • ($5,000) Finney County Childcare and Early Learning Network, a nonprofit organization working to bring together public entities, private businesses and early childhood experts to promote the growth and sustainability of high-quality childcare in Finney County.

“Over the last nine years, it was made evident to me through the work of the Kansas Health Foundation that there was a direct correlation to the overall health of a community and the presence of high quality and informed civic leadership, healthy local community foundations and early childhood learning opportunities,” Allen said. “It is an honor and a real gift to be able to direct grants to these outstanding organizations to hopefully add a little water to seeds others planted.”
