GCHS Debate Students Place At Tournament

The Garden City High School Debate team has been working hard for the last number of weeks competing at tournaments.
The following students placed in the Great Bend tournament on Saturday, November 14. They include: Alejandra Facio/Kiley Kilgore took first place (4-0) in JV and Chris Brahmbhatt/Shawn Dreiling had a 3-1 record and finished 8th in JV at the tournament.
The team has a number of new National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Members. The following students have earned enough points to become NSDA honor society members. They include: Summer Dortch, Aiden Gough, Devin Douglass, Shawn Dreiling, Samuel Jacobs, Scarlett Storer, Georgia Fahrmeier, and Jennifer Montes-Martinez.
The following GCHS students have earned enough competition points to move up NSDA degrees. They include: Addie Vannaman, Excellence (150 points); Alejandra Facio (Student), Excellence; Kiley Kilgore (Student), Excellence; Riley Metheney, Special Distinction (500 Points); and Dana Johnson (Coach), Special Distinction (500 Points).
The team has as many as eight students who are capable of qualifying for KSHSAA State in January. The following students have completed this qualification already this season. They include: Natalie Radke/Melanie Varela and Alejandra Facio/Kiley Kilgore.
Garden City High School will host a debate tournament on Saturday, December 5, 2020. There are a large number of entries from around the state that will be competing in the tournament.
