Scott City cross country sweep team titles at Ness City
Ness City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City cross country teams returned to the course on Thursday, as they made their way eastward for the Ness City Invitational. It would be a bounceback day for the boys and girls teams, as they would take both team titles on a nice afternoon for running.
Starting off with the boys race, the Beavers won the meet with 44 points, while LaCrosse was second with 99 points and Quinter was third with 99 points. Individually, Roberto Apodaca led the way for Scott City with a fourth place finish in a time of 18:00.00, and Jaxson Kough was eighth with a time of 18:21.30. Coming in 12th was Kevin Peregrino (18:41.70), Aaron Armendariz 13th (18:52.40), Bryndan Bailey 16th (18:55.50), Dylan Duff 23rd (19:26.20), and placing 28th was Cody Vance (19:32.50).
For the girls, the Lady Beavers picked up another team victory, finishing with 23 points, while Ellis was in second with 53 points. Scott City would place five in the top ten, led by Emma Wheeler with a fourth place finish in a time of 21:23.10, while Brinlie Stevens was fifth with a time of 21:51.00. Placing eighth was Megan Vance (22:00.30), Clare Hawkins ninth (22:09.90) and in 10th place was Kairae Berry (22:22.60). Macy Brown would finish in 12th place in a time of 22:33.20 and Kate Rogers finished 25th with a time of 24:20.60.
Scott City will run at the Lakin Invitation next on Saturday, October 10.
