Lady Beaver volleyball looking to build upon recent success
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver volleyball program has had a pretty good run over the last few seasons, going 84-28 over the last three seasons, and reaching the sub-state championship match in two out of the last four years. Coming off a 33-4 run in 2019 that included their first GWAC title, Scott City returns a solid nucleus that includes several players that will be three-year contributors on the varsity.
This year’s Lady Beaver team features four seniors, and returns five players that saw the court on varsity last season. They look to take the next step in making it to their first state tournament in nearly two decades. Returning are seniors Alli Brunswig and Abby McDaniel, as well as juniors Kennedy Holstein, Alli Patton and Ella Rumford.
The season will start off quickly with a triangular in Oakley in a week, followed by the Hays Invitational the next day. Added to the schedule this year are duals with Phillipsburg and Liberal, and an additional GWAC triangular.
Shelby Kite is entering her fourth season as the head coach, and is assisted by Lauren Robinson and Marci Patton, who returns to the bench as an assistant.
