GCPD Media Release – Attempted Murder
Garden City Police Department
On June 11, at around midnight, Officers of the Garden City Police
Department were called to the 3300 block of Amy Street in reference to a battery-in-progress. Upon arrival, officers met with a woman on scene who had injuries to her body and told officers a man that was known to her, Jesus Garcia-Ibanez (31), beat and strangled her.
Officers learned Jesus Garcia-Ibanez got into a verbal argument with the
woman, and the argument escalated to the point Garcia-Ibanez allegedly began to strangle, threaten, and beat the woman. During the struggle, Garcia-Ibanez reportedly took some of the woman’s belongings and damaged her property.
The woman sustained multiple injuries and was treated by St. Catherine
Hospital. Garcia-Ibanez was located and arrested for Attempted Murder,
Aggravated Kidnapping, Robbery, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Criminal
Threat, and Criminal Damage. Garcia-Ibanez was lodged at the Finney
County Jail, and the case has been turned over to the Finney County
Attorney’s Office for further review.
