DCHS clinches sweep of Cimarron
DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City High School basketball teams completed their second sweep of the week on Friday night inside of United Wireless Arena. The Lady Demon girls picked up a 56-22 victory over Cimarron in the first game, while the Red Demon boys got past the Bluejays 55-51 in the second game.

The Lady Demons improved to 6-2 on the season with the 34-point win over the Bluejays on Friday night. It was the second straight game where Dodge City has scored 50 or more points and held their opponent to under 32 points.
Dodge City again got off to a hot start from the field and would lead 15-3 after the first quarter of play. That momentum again would carry on into the second quarter, as Dodge took a 30-9 lead into the halftime break.
Cimarron came out with a little more firepower in the third quarter, but Dodge City would match the intensity and the Lady Demons would lead 43-19 after three quarters of play. The running clock would be in play for the second consecutive game, as Dodge City would cruise past the Bluejays.
Dodge City shot 48% (20-42) from the field, while holding Cimarron to 24% (8-33). The Lady Demons also would use a big night from behind the arc to their advantage for the second straight game, hitting eight three-pointers, while Cimarron was 0-7 from long distance. Dodge City had four players score in double figures, led by Chidera Okoro’s 13 points. Kisa Unruh added 12 points and 4 steals, while Lauren Gleason finished with a career-high 12 points with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Camree Johnson also scored in double figures with 10 and 5 rebounds.
Dodge City (6-2) will travel to Liberal on Friday night to take on the Redskins in WAC play. Liberal has handed Dodge City it’s one league loss. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

DODGE CITY BOYS 55, CIMARRON 51
The Dodge City boys picked up their second win in a row on Friday night, taking down the Bluejays of Cimarron, 55-51 inside of United Wireless Arena.
The two teams went back and forth for the entire first quarter, but Cimarron would take a 20-18 lead into the second quarter. The Bluejays would outscore Dodge City 12-9 in the second quarter to lead 32-27 at halftime.
The third quarter went just how the first two quarters had went, very evenly matched. The Red Demons trailed 40-38 going into the final eight minutes of play. Dodge City got some big plays down the stretch, including a charge taken by Aidan Sowers with just over a minute to go and a one-point lead at the time. Dodge City would hit their free throws down the stretch and would hold on to the four-point victory.
John Johnson posted his second double-double in his four games he’s played this season, going for 20 points and 13 rebounds in the contest. Cooper Loll also scored in double figures with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Andrew Ridenour paced the Bluejays with 15 points and 9 boards.
Dodge City is now 2-6 on the season and will travel to Liberal on Friday to continue WAC play against the Redskins. Liberal won the first meeting before the Christmas break, 55-52 in Dodge City.
