Scott City boys fourth, girls third, at Lakin Cross County Invitational

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In their final tuneup for league on a cold Saturday morning, the Scott City cross country teams made their way to Lakin for the annual Lakin Invitational. The boys would come home with a fourth place finish, while the girls came in third.

On the boys side, Scott City finished with 87 points. Guymon won the meet with 36 points, while Stanton County had 67 and Lakin had 74 points in third place. Leading the way was Eric Frances with a fifth place finish in a time of 17:20.91, and Jaxson Kough was ninth with a time of 17:38.78. Roberto Apodaca was 26th (18:43.75), Anthonly Wolfe 29th (18:50.23), Eric Shapland 31st (18:53.94), and Henry Aguilar was 59th (21:10.40).

For the girls, it was a third place finish with 92 points. Stanton County won the meet with 31 points and Southwestern Heights place second with 47 points. Megan Vance led the way for Scott City with a sixth place finish in a time of 21:04.58, and Piper Wasinger placed 12th with a time of 22:20.27. Kairae Berry placed (22:57.65), Samantha Aguilar was 35th (24:28.37), Breanna McPherson 37th (24:39.01), Claire Rumford placed 39th (24:47.58) and Alivia Noll was 40th (24:47.95).
