Scott City cross country teams finish second at Greeley County

Tribune, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City cross country teams ventured west on Saturday for their second meet of the season at the Greeley County Invitational in Tribune. Running in the mid to late morning, both teams would finish second place in the team standings.

On the girls side, Stanton County won with 31 points, while Scott City finished second. Megan Vance was the top runner for the Lady Beavers, placing third with a time of 21.52. Right behind her were Clare Hawkins in fourth (22:15) and Piper Wasinger in fifth (22:21). Kairae Berry would just miss the top 10, placing 11th with a time of 23:52, while Alivia Knoll was 26th (26:57) and Claire Rumford was 27th (26:59).

For the boys, it was a second place finish as well. Stanton County won the meet with 23 points, while Scott City was second with 50. Eric Frances would win his second consecutive meet of the year, winning with a time of 18:14. Two other Beaver runners would be in the top 10, as Jaxson Kough was fourth (18:29), and Roberto Apodaca placed eighth (19:03). Other results included Anthony Wolfe coming in 20th (20:18), Freddy Castillo 27th (21:01), Josh Kasselman was 28th (21:05), and Henry Aguilar placed 31st (21:10).
