Scott City volleyball sweeps Hoxie Triangular, tennis second at Hoisington
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a good week for the Scott City Lady Beaver volleyball and tennis teams. The volleyball team completed a 3-0 week, while the girls tennis squad had a good showing in Hoisington, placing second on Tuesday.
In Hoxie, the volleyball squad faced Hoxie and Hill City in a triangular. The first match of the day would be up against the host school in Hoxie. Set one went to the Lady Indians 25-21, while Scott City would bounce back and take care of the Lady Indians in the final two sets 25-19, 25-15. They would have a quick turnaround and face the Lady Ringnecks. The Lady Beavers continued their momentum, as they picked up a two set win 25-17, 25-20 to cap off an undefeated week. Scott City is 8-2 on the year, and will host Goodland and Lakin in a triangular on Tuesday.
On Tuesday in Hoisington, the girls tennis squad finished second at the five-team Hoisington Inviational. Central Plains won the meet with 26 points, followed by Scott City with 24. Taking home first place in No. 2 Singles was Madison Westergard. Finishing in second place were Abbie LeBeau in No. 1 Singles, Cynthia Gonzalez/Lynae Haupt in No. 1 Doubles, and Giselle Aguirre/Marisela Chavez in No. 2 Doubles. Up next will be the Phillipsburg Invitational on Tuesday.
