Garden City 10th in latest polls
GCCC Sports Information
Garden City, KS-Garden City is ranked 10th in the latest polls released by the NJCAA on Tuesday. The Broncbusters have now been ranked in 34 out of the last 38 polls.
Garden City rebounded from a heartbreaking opening-week loss to No. 6 Snow and pounded unranked Dodge City, 42-22 on Saturday. But that defeat in week one dropped the Broncbusters seven spots.
Hutchinson, after back-to-back wins over Ellsworth and Independence, grabbed the top spot, followed by 2-0 Kilgore and 2-0 Butler. Interestingly enough, East Mississippi, the defending National champions, lost to unranked Hinds and only dropped four spots, yet Iowa Western, the nation’s No. 2 team, lost to a ranked Iowa Central squad, and dropped to No. 7. The same could be said about the Broncbusters, who lost by three to the No. 6 ranked team in the country, yet dropped seven spots to No. 10.
Let the poll jostling officially begin.
“I believe the team playing in the National Championship, and the team that wins this conference, will have one loss,” Garden City Coach Tom Minnick said. “These region is too good for someone to go undefeated.”
The Broncbusters (1-1) return home on Saturday to face off with Ellsworth. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
