SCHS Girls Tennis looks to rely on veterans
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The tennis season usually goes fast, which means there is little time to waste from the first day of practice to the first matches of the season. Around 20 players have been enjoying the brand new courts located at Scott City Middle School, which were finished up last week. There are six courts at the new tennis complex.
Head Coach Cheryl Kucharik returns four varsity players from a squad that does return one state qualifier from last season in senior Abbie LeBeau. There are three seniors on this years team. Corbin Janssen returns to his alma mater to help assist the girls team, as does Karen Pounds, who has helped with the program before.
This years season gets started in a hurry for the varsity, as they will compete in the ever-tough Wichita Collegiate Classic this Saturday.
