GCHS Students Place At National FCCLA Competition

Garden City High School members of the Kansas Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) attended the annual National FCCLA Conference June 30th– July 4th in Anaheim, California. The students attended FCCLA program workshops and leadership sessions, and took part in competitive events. The students that were attendance advanced from state competition in April to compete at the national level.
The following students that competed and placed include: Jason Tran placed 1st in the nation in Applied Math for Culinary Management at National FCCLA. He received a full tuition and fees scholarship to Sullivan University. Emily Chandler and Audrey Norquest took 1st place in the nation in the FCCLA Food Innovations Jr. Event. Kathryn Chandler placed 2nd in the nation in the FCCLA Leadership Occupational Level Competition. Caitlyn Harman placed 5th in the nation in the FCCLA Advocacy Occupational Competition. Ryan Glaze received silver in the Occupational Level Food Innovations Competition. The Culinary Team (Lydia Martinez, Victoria Ramirez, and Daniel Gonzalez) placed with a bronze ranking.
