Garden City Police makes an arrest in school threat

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — The Garden City Police Department has made an arrest following a threat against Horace Good Middle School on Monday evening. This was the second threat made against the school in the last week.

The GCPD released a statement on Tuesday evening that they made an arrest just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. According to a release, 15-year old Mariela Galvez was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on allegations of Aggravated Criminal Threat.

The release also mentioned that Galvez had created the threat and then posted it as if it was sent to her from an anonymous source. The GCPD also learned that Galvez had created the threat in attempt to get out of school on Wednesday.

The case was turned over to the Finney County Attorney’s Office.
