Scott City baseball and softball sweep Hugoton
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City baseball and softball teams resumed their seasons on Tuesday, with both in GWAC play. Baseball ventured down to Hugoton to face the Eagles, while softball stayed at home to face Hugoton. Both teams started off their second half of the season with a pair of wins.
At Hugoton, the baseball team swept the Eagles for a second straight year, and picked up wins of 10-3 in game 1, and completed the sweep with a 5-2 win in the second game. With the wins, Scott City has improved to 5-7 overall, and 3-3 in GWAC play. Hugoton fell to 4-8 overall, and 2-4 in league play.
In Scott City, the Lady Beavers were able to roll to a pair of run rule wins. In their first game, the dominated Hugoton with an 18-3 win in three innings. Scott City completed the sweep in five innings in game 2 with a 16-6 win. The Lady Beavers improve to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the GWAC, while Hugoton falls to 0-8 overall, and 0-6 in the league.
Both baseball and softball return home on Thursday. Baseball is slated to host Pratt-Skyline, while softball is hosting Southwestern Heights.
