FINNEY COUNTY, Kan. — Nominations for the 24th Annual Crystal Apple Awards, presented by Bors Law, P.A., are now being accepted by the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce. The nomination forms are available at all schools in Finney County, at the Chamber office, 1509 E. Fulton Terrace, and online at www.gardencitychamber.net. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Chamber no later than Friday, May 24, 2019.
The Chamber’s Crystal Apple Committee is made up of community and business leaders making sure one of the community’s most valuable assets, our teachers, get the recognition they undoubtedly deserve.
“Teachers are the key when preparing our youth to be the future workforce for businesses in our area”, said Chamber President, Myca Bunch. “We encourage everyone to nominate a teacher they believe has gone above and beyond in helping our students. Finney County teachers are some of the best in the state and the nation, and we are excited for the opportunity to recognize their accomplishments through this great program.”
The nomination of a teacher begins the process for this distinguished award. Each nominated teacher must fill out an application and send it back to the Chamber by Friday, July 26, 2019.
The Crystal Apple Selection Committee names the Crystal Apple Recipients based on information reviews, interviews, and classroom observations over an eight-month process. The top three award recipients receive $1,000 and an I-Pad courtesy of COX Communications and the remaining three finalists receive $250 each.
“The program’s purpose is to demonstrate that teachers are very important in our community and that the significance of teaching, as a profession, should be revered in Finney County,” said Roy Cessna, Crystal Apple Committee Chairperson.
This year marks the 24th Anniversary of the event and all past award recipients are invited and encouraged to attend and be recognized during the awards banquet on November 14, 2019.
