Board of Education Approves 2019-2020 School Calendar

The Garden City Public Schools Board of Education approved the 2019-2020 school calendar at the April 1^st meeting.  A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Monday, August 12, 2019.  The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Some key dates on the calendar where there will be no school include:

• August 2^nd – 7^th – Orientation for new teachers
• August 8^th – Inservice for all teachers
• August 9^th – Workday for all teachers
• August 12^th – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon
• August 13^th – First full day of school for all students
• September 2^nd – Labor Day observed no school
• September 26^th and 27^th – Teacher inservice
• October 18^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• October 24^th and 25^th – Parent Teacher Conferences
• November 11^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and new teacher inservice in the afternoon
• November 27^th – 29^th  – Fall vacation
• December 20^th – Teacher inservice in the morning
• December 23^rd – January 3^rd – Winter vacation: school is not in session
• January 6^th – Teacher workday
• January 7^th – School resumes
• January 31^st – Teacher inservice in the morning and new teacher inservice in the afternoon
• February 21^st – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• February 27^th and 28^th – Parent Teacher Conferences
• March 16^th – 20^th – Spring Break
• April 10^th and 13^th – Spring vacation
• May 21^st – Last day of school
• May 22^nd – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
