Garden City Police Department investigating teen’s death

GARDEN CITY — The Garden City Police Department announced that they are investigating the death of a 16-year old Garden City girl found early Sunday morning.

The call came in shortly before 9 a.m. on Sunday, after they were notified of an unresponsive teenage girl in the 2500 block of Labrador Boulevard. The girl was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital, where she was later pronunced deceased.

According to Garden City Police Sgt. Lana Urteaga, the name of the girl will not be released since there was no sign of foul play.

Garden City High School principal, Steve Nordby emailed a letter to parents of everyone at the high school on Monday morning informing them of what had happened. The high school’s counselors will be available throughout the week to help any students that may need help during this time of grief.
