GCHS tennis wins WAC Crown
GARDEN CITY — The Garden City High School girls tennis team won the Western Athletic Conference title on Monday afternoon at the GCHS Tennis Courts. The title was their third consecutive WAC championship. The Buffaloes’ #1 doubles team of Carson Linenberger and Sage Riggs went 4-0 to pace the Buffs. Taryn Tabor finished 3-1 in #1 singles play for Garden City, as well.
Dodge City’s Mariana Duque finished the day 4-0 in #1 singles for the Red Demons. After the tournament, Duque was named the WAC Player of the Year.
Garden City coach Rod Robinson was named the WAC Coach of the Year.
Dodge City will host regionals on Friday and Saturday at the Preston Courts on the DCHS campus. The eight-team regional will feature Dodge City, Garden City, Haysville-Campus, Hutchinson, Liberal, Wichita North, Wichita South and Wichita West.
