Scott City cross country has a good showing in Tribune
Tribune, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Beaver cross country teams returned to competition on Saturday at the Greeley County Invitational in Tribune, and came back with a successful day. Scott City’s girls won their second meet of the year, while the boys finished in third place.
On the girls side, the Lady Beavers won their second team title in as many meets. Scott City finished with 34 points, 20 ahead of runner-up Trego with 54 and Stanton County was third with 72. Individually, Dulce Ayala led the team with a third place finish, recording a time of 22:01.92, followed by Clare Hawkins in fourth with a time of 22:02.86 and Piper Wasinger was right behind her in fifth, and finished with a time of 22:08.66. Kairae Berry finished in 11th (24:06.47), Samantha Aguilar 20th (25:41.16), Taia Waldrop came in 36th (28:20.14) and Kodi Rogers finished in 39th with a time of 28:33.64.
For the boys, it was a third place finish. Wallace County won the meet with 54 points, followed by Stanton County with 66 and the Beavers with 78. Eric Frances led Scott City with a fourth place finish in a time of 18:29.40, Jaxson Kough was seventh, recording a time of 18:54.30, followed by Theron Tucker in 10th (19:13.50), Eric Shapland 31st (20:57.21), Logan Yeadon 31st (20:59.81), Erick Castillo 45th (21:56.21), and Angel Rodriguez 51st (22:35.65).
Scott City will run at the Hugoton Invitational Saturday morning.
