Woodrow inducted into SWKS Pro-Am Hall of Fame

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Wednesday night the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am inducted Wichita native Tyler Woodrow into the Hall of Fame Wednesday night. Woodrow has played in all 39 SWKS Pro-Am events.

“It’s a great honor and I never thought it would be possible, but it means a lot and the main the main reason is because it’s for St. Catherine’s and that it goes towards the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and me being inducted doesn’t compare to how many people the unit has helped,” said Woodrow.

When Woodrow began playing in the tournament he owned a store in Liberal and that’s how he got involved. His team won the pro-am one year with a score of -29.

“I was speechless when I found out I was being inducted,” said Woodrow, “I was e-mailed and thought it was a joke so I didn’t  reply at first then I got a call saying the good news I was being inducted, the bad news was I had to stay sober to say a few words.”

The fundraising goal for the pro-am this year has grown to $100,000 for the NICU at St. Catherine. Woodrow says it’s amazing how the event has grown.

“It started out as a fun time and it’s grown with the major sponsors and the quality of pro’s that play and it’s just grown into other aspects like the ball drop and other events that create revenue for the intensive care unit,” said Woodrow.
