A’s bounce back against Bee Jays

Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City A’s bounced back on Sunday night following Saturday’s brutal loss to beat the Liberal Bee Jays 10-5.

Liberal(13-8) got on the board first following a couple of A’s errors brought in Boone Montgomery to score after leading off the game with a walk. Brett Matthews no-hit the A’s for the first three innings before the bats came alive in the fourth inning scoring six runs to take a 6-2 lead. Owen Jansen had a two-run double followed by an RBI fielders choice for Adam Hollar and RBI singles for Daylan Nanny and Kyle Cullen. The Bee Jays also committed two errors in the inning.

Dodge City extended the lead in the fifth on another RBI fielders choice for Adam Hollar to make it 7-2. Liberal cut into the lead in the sixth with an RBI groundout by Justin Marino and in the seventh with an RBI sac-fly from Chase Hacker, making it 7-4.

The A’s(8-8) added insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh when Jordan Vujovich scored on a passed ball with two outs and Isaiah Haddad, who started for suspended Carlos Arrellano after Saturday night’s ejection, delivered a two-run single to make it 10-4.

In his first start with the A’s Trevor Munsch(1-0) got the win pitching six innings and allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Brett Matthews(3-1) pitched 3.1 innings and allowed three earned runs, six runs and three hits. Jansen, Hollar and Haddad all had two RBI to lead Dodge City at the plate.

The A’s are back in action Monday night at home when they host the Hays Larks. The first pitch is at 7:30 p.m. with pregame at 7:15 on 95.5 FM and swksradio.com.
