Cimarron finishes second at Norton regional; Scott City sends two to state
Norton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Cimarron Bluejays finished second to Phillipsburg on Monday at the Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament held at Prairie Dog Golf Club just outside of Norton. Cimarron finished with a round of 331, 13 shots behind Phillipsburg. The top two teams qualify for state. Scott City finished in sixth and Lakin was seventh.
Leading the way for area golfers was Matt Mowry, who finished in fourth place with a round of 79. Goodland’s Garin Ihrig won the meet with a round of 72, just two over par, while Trey Sides of Phillipsburg was fourth with a score of 74. Cimarron also got two more players in the top 10. Josh Seabolt won a playoff to finish fifth, and Alec Coast ended up eighth, losing a playoff for seventh. Scott City would qualify two golfers for state. Jackson Lewis and Shea Morris tied for 12th, shooting an 89.
The Class 3A State Golf Tournament will be held in Seneca on Monday, May 21.
