Ulysses golf edges Goodland for GWAC title
Hugoton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Ulysses Tiger golf team repeated as GWAC champions on Thursday in Hugoton, edging Goodland by four shots. Scott City finished in fourth, ahead of Holcomb and Hugoton.
While Goodland took the first and third spots indivudually, the Tigers were led by Austin Perez, who won a playoff for the second place spot with a round of 77. Garin Ihrig won the meet shooting a 76. Ulysses ended up with two others in the top 10, as Connor Beims finished fifth and Brandon Peters was sixth. Scott City’s Jackson Lewis finished fourth, while Brennon Featherston was ninth for Hugoton and Holcomb’s Cayden Cundiff finished 10th.
Colby, Goodland and Scott City will be at the 3A Regional at Norton on Monday, while Holcomb, Hugoton and Ulysses travel to Huchinson for the 4A Regional on Monady, hosted by Nickerson.
