GCHS tennis regional champs
Wichita, KS-The Garden City High School boys tennis team won the 6A regional championship at Wichita Northwest High School on Friday.
The No. 1 doubles team of Will Keller and Daniel Darter rolled through Nathan Addis and Corbin Sanchez; then blew past Alex Ramirez and Cannon Kunkall from Dodge City 6-0, 6-0. They followed that up by beating Koby Nickel and Logan Flippin from Wichita Northwest in the semifinals. That setup a showdown with Haysville Campus’s Clayton Tolbert and Presley Chan in the finals, who they promptly defeated 6-3, 6-2.
“We came out swinging,” Keller said.
The No. 2 doubles team of Daniel Chacon and Brian Carrera finished fourth and qualified for state as did No. 1 singles player Huy Nguyen, who bounced back after a second-round loss to Hutchinson’s Joe Blake to take home fifth.
