No School for Garfield Early Childhood Center and Kindergarten Students Thursday, May 3

Garden City Public Schools will hold a Kindergarten Roundup to screen and enroll kindergarten students for the 2018-19 school year on Thursday, May 3rd.  Enrollment will run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  There will be no school for Garfield Early Childhood Center students and kindergarten students.

Parents need to bring their incoming kindergarten student with them to the enrollment process.  Kindergarten students must be enrolled in their neighborhood school, according to USD 457 school boundaries.  The child will participate in a number of centers to help determine their academic growth.  The screening will take approximately an hour.

Parents will receive important information regarding academic expectations from the kindergarten teachers.  They will also receive information on helping their child in their learning development at home.

Children who will attain the age of five on or before August 31, 2018 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year.  Items necessary for kindergarten enrollment include the following: a birth certificate, an immunization record, parent photo ID and proof of address.  The immunization policy for Garden City Public Schools follows the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s requirements for school entry.

Students enrolling on or before May 3, 2018, will have priority for space over students who enroll in the district after that date.  Enrollment fee for kindergarten students is $25. Parents wanting more information on enrollment can contact their child’s school.
