Garden City softball run rules Liberal in double header
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City High School softball team started WAC play with a bang Tuesday. The Lady Buffaloes trounced Liberal(5-5, 0-2) 15-0 in three innings in both games of the double header.
Game One
Garden City jumped to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The Lady Buffs would add eight more runs to make it 14-0 in the bottom of the second and ended the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Raegan Nordby.
On the mound Hailey Dart(3-2) walked the lead off batter Alexia Torres and that was all she allowed. Dart retired the next nine batters including eight strikeouts in the no-hitter. Yaz Vargas led the way at the plate going 2-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Nordby also went 2-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Taylor Terpstra went 3-3 with 3 runs and an RBI and Erykah Foster went 1-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs.
Game Two
Just like game one Garden City jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first, then added nine runs in the bottom of the second. In the second inning 15 batters came to the plate for the Lady Buff, seven straight were walked or hit by pitch.
Yaz Vargas(2-1) got the win on the mound allowing just one hit and one walk with five strikeouts. Erykah Foster went 1-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Taylor Terpstra was 1-2 with 2 RBI.
Garden City(5-3, 2-0) is back in action Friday April 20 at Colby.
