Lowden named new Garden City Community College Volleyball Coach
Garden City, KS-After spending one season as a Broncbuster assistant coach, Casie Lowden was named as the new women’s volleyball coach at Garden City Community College on Tuesday.
“When I came here as an assistant, it was really a good fit for me,” Lowden said at her introductory press conference. “And it’s only proven to be right ever since that day.”
Lowden arrived in Garden City before the 2017 season after spending the previous three years as the head coach for the Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club in Southern California. Before that, she spent a year as an assistant for the program.
“My goal is to make sure these girls are taking care of their business on and off the floor,” Lowden said. “I want them to be good volleyball players, but I also want them to be good young women.”
Lowden graduated from Whitter College in Whittier, CA where she was a four-year starter at outside hitter. She is originally from Glendora, CA.
Lowden inherits a team that finished 12-22 last year.
“Right now, we are going to continue working hard and concentrate on our offseason training,” Lowden said. “We have to start working on filling out our roster.”
Lowden replaces Jacquelynne Matula who resigned last month after three seasons at the helm. Under her watch, Garden City was 24-84, including a pair of six-win campaigns in 2015 and 2016.
“We will get our roster rounded out, and then go into our summer workout program,” Lowden said. “Then it’s time to get rolling for the season.”
