GC teen hits utility pole while high on inhalants

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Friday afternoon a Garden City teen was arrested after striking a utility pole in the 1900 block of E. Kansas Ave. At 12:21 p.m. Garden City Police officers were sent to the injury accident.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a blue 2003 Ford Mustang that had struck a utility pole and come to rest on the south side of Kansas Ave. The 17 year old male driver of Garden City was located alert and conscious with minor injuries. The teen refused Medical treatment. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and other charges.

The investigation revealed the teen was driving westbound on Kansas Ave. in the inside lane when he allegedly passed out from consuming inhalants, crossing the eastbound lanes of traffic striking the utility pole.

A search of the vehicle revealed inhalants, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana. He was arrested and later released to parents; he could face the possible charges of:

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
City electric responded to replace the utility pole. The car was towed from the scene.
