Deerfield Groundhog Dinner feeds over 1,200

Deerfield, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Wednesday night the Deerfield Brotherhood held their annual groundhog dinner. The supper is referred to commonly as the “granddaddy of all groundhog suppers,” that proved to be true again this year. The meal has been held for over seven decades.

The supper fed 1,273 people at the Deerfield Community Center for $7 a plate. The proceeds will go to benefit several groups including the boy scouts and girl scouts and will fund scholarships for students. The money raised will also benefit the two active churches in Deerfield. Over 100 volunteers helped with the supper.
