Deerfield Groundhog Supper Wednesday night to feed over 1,200

Deerfield, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Wednesday night Deerfield will host the “Granddaddy of all Groundhog Suppers.” The Deerfield Brotherhood has been hosting their annual groundhog dinner for over seven decades.

In the last three years the supper has raised between $10,000 and $11,000 each year. The proceeds from the benefit are youth driven and will go to organizations like boy scouts and girl scouts and several other youth organizations. Some money will also go to the two active churches in Deerfield.

This year over 100 volunteers will help feed around 1,200 people from all over SW Kansas.

The dinner is from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Deerfield Community Center at 609 Main St. Tickets are $7. For more information call the community center at 620-426-2400.
