GCHS band and orchestra members make all-state

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Garden City High School band and orchestra students traveled to Salina for all-state auditions on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Two students qualified for state band and one student qualified for state orchestra. They will perform at a concert during the Kansas Music Educators Association Conference in Wichita, Kansas in late February.
The GCHS band students that have advanced onto state include: Colten May, 1st chair euphonium, and Jonathan Ochampaugh, 3rd chair jazz trumpet. The orchestra student that qualified for all-state orchestra is Lucas Torres-Ruiz, violin.
The GCHS band director is Lyle Sobba; assistant director is Makenzi Johnson. The GCHS orchestra director is Summer Miller.
