Broncbuster men tip-off season with a win over Sterling
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Community College men’s basketball team started off their season with a win at home Wednesday over the Sterling JV team 107-87.
The Broncbusters(1-0) feature an entirely new roster this year and were led by Octavius Meadows with 19 points in just 15 minutes of play. GCCC shot 55 percent from the floor as a team.
Russhard Cruickshank also chipped in with 17 points for the Broncbusters. Pierre Johnson scored 14, Jamir Thomas had 13 and Kendale Hampton had 11 points coming off the bench.
Head Coach Brady Trenkle touted how unselfish his guys played in their opener, but added that they have to get much better at defending the 3-point line. Sterling shot 15-28 from beyond the arc.
The Broncbusters are back in action on Friday night at 8 p.m. when they host Cedar Valley.
