Finalists announced for Crystal Apple Teacher Awards
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Six teachers from Garden City Public Schools have been named finalists for this year’s Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce Crystal Apple Teacher Recognition Awards. The 2017 finalists from the district are: Janet Hackett, Garden City High School; Sarah Harris, Victor Ornelas Elementary School; Julia Morales, Buffalo Jones Elementary School; Dru Saddler, Garden City High School; Sarah Shrimplin, Edith Scheuerman Elementary School; and Dixie Teeter, Victor Ornelas Elementary School.
This program is made up of representatives from the business community. The Crystal Apple program strives to honor outstanding teachers in Finney County for their exceptional efforts in education.
The top three finalists will be named as the 2017 Crystal Apple Teachers of Finney County at the awards banquet on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Clarion Inn, 1911 East Kansas Avenue. The three finalists will receive an engraved crystal apple, $1,000 cash award, and an iPad tablet. The three semi-finalists will be presented with a cash award of $250.
Reservations for the banquet are required by 5 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017. Cost is $25 per person, payable in advance to the Chamber of Commerce, 1509 E. Fulton Terrace.
