Lady Buffs Volleyball picks up two wins at Dodge City
Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City volleyball team overcame a slow start on Tuesday in the triangular at Dodge City to pick up two wins.
The Lady Buffs dropped their first set of the night to Liberal 25-22, before winning four straight sets convincingly to pick up two wins. Garden City won the next two sets against Liberal 25-10 and 25-8 then swept Dodge City 25-15 and 25-15.
Coach Trista Bailey said the team wasn’t as focused as they should have been early on, but was proud of the way the girls responded.
Dodge City had the opposite experience on Tuesday. The Lady Red Demons won their first set over Liberal 25-18 then dropped the next four sets to go 0-2 on the night. Dodge City lost the next two sets to Liberal 25-12 and 27-25.
Coach Amy Fleener said the Lady Red Demons just aren’t consistent enough right now, but thinks the team is learning to fight more.
Garden City(17-8) is back in action on Thursday when they host Maize South. Dodge City(7-19) doesn’t play again until October 5 at Garden City.
