Garden City School Board approves teacher pay raise
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Monday the Garden City School Board approved pay raises for all district teachers.
The board voted to approve a negotiated agreement that teachers approved by a vote of 366-15. The agreement features a $1,500 increase to base pay and bonuses based on years of service in the district.
Teachers with five to nine years of service will get a $500 bonus; teachers with 10 to 14 years of service will get $700; 15 to 19 years service will get $1,200 and 20 years or more of service will get $2,000.
The board also approved the 2017-18 District Budget of $106,025,061.
The board also viewed a presentation from the Math Academy from Crystal Steinmetz and heard a proposal for boys swimming to be added as a sport at the high school.
The board will vote on the boys swimming proposal at their next meeting on September 11.
