Hill takes over GCHS track; Reich new baseball coach

Garden City, KS-In eight years at Garden City High School, Brian Hill has become one of the best football coaches in the state. Now the established head man is adding another title to his name.

On Monday, Hill was named the new high school track coach at Garden City High School, replacing Mike Smith, who retired after last season.

In his seven seasons, Hill has rebuilt the Buffalo football team into a state contender. Last season, he passed Ed Hall for third on the all-time wins list at the school. He has directed Garden City to two semifinal appearances and has guided the brown and white to the playoffs four times.

He has spent the previous six years as the assistant track coach.

The High School also announced that Justin Reich will replace the retiring Bill Wilson as the school’s baseball coach.

“I’m really excited to get started,” Reich said. “It’s a great opportunity.”

Reich was an instrumental part of the Buffalo softball team, helping them win their first state tournament game in program history. He served as the squad’s hitting coach.

“I’ve taken so many things from all the coaches in the district,” Reich said. “I’ve learned so much from them.”

Reich also spent time as the head football coach of the middle school.
