GC Stabbing Suspect Bond Reduction Denied
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Alberto Tello, 23, was arrested on July 2 in the stabbing death of Carlos Romero, 23, Tello appeared in court Monday for the second time.
Chief Public Defender Ronald Evans asked District Judge Ricklin Pierce to reduce Tello’s bond of $250,000 to a cheaper rate, a motion that Pierce denied.
The Kansas Department of Corrections cited that a case against Tello for burglary of a motor vehicle is still active. Tello was sentenced in May 2016. He was also convicted of three counts of assault and battery of a corrections officer in March 2015.
If convicted Tello could face for than 51 years in prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 8 at 4 p.m.
