Scott City football wraps up summer camp
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–All that separates Scott City football from their season opener at Hays is seven weeks. As of Friday, 49 days. This past week, the Beavers hit the gridiron for a week of football camp in preparation for the 2017 season.
Second year head coach Jim Turner had around 49 kids at this year’s camp, following a season that saw them finish 7-3 in 2016, and a loss to Holcomb in the Class 4A, Division II playoffs. New to the coaching staff this year is Dakota Hayes, a 2010 SCHS graduate.
While there are some positions that have projected returning starters, there were a few key positions that saw some competition that will be continued in fall practices. Some of those positions incude the quarterback, linebacker and the kicking game.
The summer weight program will continue for another couple of weeks. Players will report for the first day of football practice on Monday, August 14.
