Jorge “George” Valdez
Jorge “George” Valdez, 59, died June 10, 2017 at NW Texas Healthcare, Amarillo, Texas. He was born on June 6, 1958 at Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Pedro and Dora (Lopez) Valdez.
George moved to Dodge City in 1983 and then to Spearville in 2010. He was currently working for Alliance Ag of Spearville as a Yard Leadman. He also had worked at Cargill for over 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars and was a great mechanic, working on many co-workers and friends cars. George enjoyed his family especially being a grandfather. He loved to listen to oldies music where the louder the better suited him the best. George was a prankster who loved to laugh and have a good time. He enjoyed people and never knew a stranger.
George is survived by his wife, Rosie of Spearville; his mother, Dora Valdez of El Paso, Texas: two daughters, Jennie Keller and husband Corey of Dodge City and Vicky Altamirano of Dodge City; grandchildren, Corey, Jr., Alexis, Ashley, Jesse, Angelica, Eboni, Ethan, and Christopher; two brothers, Steve Valdez and wife Ana and Pedro Valdez and wife Celia both of El Paso, Texas and a sister, Virginia Valdez of El Paso, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Valdez; a son, Jesse Altamirano, and two brothers, Carlos and Mundo Valdez.
Vigil service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 16 at 7:30 PM. Celebration service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday June 17 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday June 16, 2017 from Noon to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
