Adigun replaces Gillen as Hugoton Girls Basketball Coach
Hugoton, KS–Replacing a guy that won two rings in five seasons is no small task. But the Hugoton girls believe they got the best man for the job.
Former Pratt High School girls coach Emmanuel Adigun named the new head coach at Hugoton High School, taking over for Andy Gillen, who resigned back in April.
“Hugoton has such a great basketball culture,” Adigun said. “This is a great opportunity.”
The Houston, TX native inherits a program coming off a state championship run during the winter. But they lose Gatorade Player of the Year Katy Hager to graduation.
“Obviously we lose a lot of scoring off of last year’s team,” Adigun said. “But that’s high school basketball. We have girls ready to step up and get going.”
Adigun was an all-state player at Wheatley before getting a full-ride to the University of Texas-San Antonio. He then transferred to Hutchinson Community College and then to Southwest Baptist. After school, he spent six seasons as an assistant at Pratt before taking over the head coaching duties.
“It’s an exciting time,” Adigun admitted. “I’m ready for a new challenge.”
